English archers, the longbow, Henry V’s leadership, all make the English victory at Agincourt a headline in general histories of the Middle Ages, but what was Henry’s strategy in the years before 1415 and after? Professor Anne Curry is an outstanding authority on Henry V as a military leader, and particularly of the battle of Agincourt, which was fought on the 25th October 1415.
She led the project analysing the pay and tax records which resulted in finding and recording the names of all soldiers serving the English kings between 1369 and 1453.
Her current research concerns the English army between 1415 and 1450. Henry V visited Beverley on the 8th April 1421 as part of his preparations for further attacks on France. Why was Beverley significant in these plans? How did this connect with St John of Beverley?
Anne Curry has been made the Master of the Worshipful Company of Fletchers in its 650th year,
